James Yorkston’s La Magnifica: formats, downloads and preorder timing
James Yorkston’s retrospective arrives November 27, 2026 with two new tracks. Compare Domino’s vinyl, CD and download editions, plus physical-delivery terms.
James Yorkston’s La Magnifica is a career-spanning retrospective, not a wholly new studio album. Domino’s September 30 announcement sets its release for November 27, 2026, celebrating his 25 years with the label. Alongside earlier recordings, it includes two new tracks, ‘Hard Times Of Old Edinburgh’ and ‘The Time Was Short, But I was Happy’. The label announced the former as digitally available on September 30; that does not mean the full compilation is already out.
Choose the edition for what you want to read as well as hear. Domino Mart’s Exclusive Limited 2xLP listing describes two black-vinyl records in a gatefold sleeve with printed inners, plus a hand-numbered booklet of Yorkston’s essays and illustrations by his son. The separate 2xCD listing advertises two CDs and a lyric booklet. These are the store’s advertised contents, not a stock or checkout test.
The vinyl listing advertises an instant download of ‘Hard Times Of Old Edinburgh’ with a preorder, the full release on November 27, and an MP3/WAV download card. Do not assume the CD includes the same benefits: its description does not make that promise. The download edition lists MP3, FLAC and WAV options, with re-access through the purchase-confirmation email. Check the selected variant before paying; this guide has not completed a purchase or activated a download, and does not promise availability in every country.
Physical arrival is a separate question. Domino Mart’s help page says payment is taken during ordering and all items in one order dispatch together. Adding an already-released record to this preorder can therefore hold that record until the combined order ships. Domino aims for preorder delivery on or around release, but warns that circumstances can prevent release-day arrival. The album listings do not provide a specific dispatch date, so November 27 is the release date rather than a guaranteed delivery appointment.
Keep the confirmation email if you order downloads. Domino says it contains the download link and that unreleased music gets a release-day reminder to revisit that link. Files arrive as a ZIP; the store recommends downloading to a computer or laptop that can unzip and play them. Use the edition-specific pages and current help terms below to distinguish an advertised early track download from full-album access and physical shipping.
