Spotify expands support for emerging independent artists
Spotify’s Fresh Finds Forward offers eligible independent artists a year of career resources after editorial playlist placement.

Spotify launched Fresh Finds Forward for emerging independent artists selected for its editor-curated Fresh Finds playlists. It expects approximately 10,000 artists a year to receive access to resources, community and career support.
Artists added to an eligible Fresh Finds playlist from January 1, 2026 onward are invited through Spotify for Artists. Once enrolled, they can use program benefits for 12 months. Spotify says artists hoping for consideration should pitch an upcoming release to its editors through Spotify for Artists; a pitch does not ensure a playlist placement.
Benefits vary by situation. Spotify lists free studio time for U.S.-based artists, early access to selected tools, priority consideration for tour or video partnerships, a Fresh Finds badge, events and access to third-party creation tools. The list describes available opportunities, not a promise that every artist will receive each one.
Spotify says Fresh Finds playlists have introduced more than 80,000 artists across 127 countries over more than a decade. It also reports 128 million new artist discoveries from the playlists since 2024 and says nearly 70% of their streams were a listener’s first encounter with an artist. Those are Spotify’s own measures of discovery, not independent estimates of artists’ earnings or long-term audience growth.
The program tries to extend the value of a brief editorial placement into ongoing support. Whether it does so for a particular artist will depend on the benefits they can access and what happens after their 12-month window.
