YouTube announced two discovery updates for YouTube Music at Made on YouTube 2026: more control in Ask Music and a personalized podcast feature called “your podcast lineup.” Both were described as coming soon, without a specific launch date.

Ask Music is YouTube Music’s conversational discovery tool. YouTube says the update will let listeners customize the queue it creates and ask for more background on artists. Its announcement describes a catalog spanning official recordings, remixes, live performances, covers and DJ sets, so a discovery request need not be limited to a studio track.

Your podcast lineup is a weekly AI-generated spoken preview of suggested shows for YouTube Music and Premium subscribers. YouTube says it will explain why a show might fit a listener before moving to recommended episodes. That is a different format from a static list of podcast recommendations: the preview itself is meant to be listened to.

YouTube says its users discovered an artist new to them more than 450 million times in July 2026. The company did not explain that metric in detail in this announcement, so it is best read as YouTube’s measure of discovery activity, not a count of unique new listeners.

The rollout is planned worldwide for subscribers, but availability may vary until it reaches each account. The announcement does not say whether existing Ask Music access or the new podcast guide will appear on every platform at the same time.
